Exhibition: Welcome to My World
Closed for proposals. CURATORIAL CONCEPT: Opening the doors to our inner worlds to make connections with each other. After having spent the best part of a year in various degrees of COVID-19 lockdown, many of us are eager to connect with each other and share our experiences of isolation. This exhibition invites artists to create a miniature world that reflects on their inner experience. The viewer will be invited to have a peek into the inner worlds created by the selected artists.
If you suspect that you might be an artist, but you don’t call yourself one yet, this proposal is probably for you! Please contact Anya If you have questions about this process or require support in preparing your application.
Exhibition: Good Ancestor
Closed for proposals. CURATORIAL CONCEPT: What does it mean to be a good ancestor? Imagine that you are invited to share a drink with your ancestors and the people to whom YOU will one day be an ancestor. What would you ask of them? What would you want to tell them? Artists* are invited to create a three-dimensional drinking vessel suitable for such an occasion, or a 2D wall-mounted work inspired by these questions.
Exhibition: Wish You Were Here
Click here to download the application form with more details.
CURATORIAL CONCEPT: This exhibition is a form of postal art, which is an art movement centered on sending small scale art works through the postal system. Particpants are invited to create an art work responding to this statement: Wish You Were Here. Your art work must come through the postal system, stamped by the post office. Click here to download a postcard template, to print out and mail in.
Exhibition: ARTifacts
Click here to download the application form with more details.
CURATORIAL CONCEPT: In partnership with the Renfrew County Museums Network, artists are invited to visit one or more of the 20 museums in the Ottawa Valley and select an artifact, photograph or document. The artist will create an art piece in conversation with the selected museum object in any media. This is an opportunity to celebrate, acknowledge and question Ottawa Valley history.
Exhibition: People and Place
Closed for submissions. CURATORIAL CONCEPT: People and Place is a community textile installation inspired by the topography of the Ottawa Valley region focusing on lakes, rivers, woodland and communities. The installation is designed by artist Genevieve Townsend and will include up to 50 community collaborators. The piece will be divided into a number of components, each of which will be created by community members. The artist-facilitator will bring all of the components together to create the final installation.
Exhibition: Tree Story
Click here to download the application form with more details.
CURATORIAL CONCEPT: If humans had the capacity to communicate with trees, what stories would they share with us? Through a variety of media Tree Story looks at human relationships with the trees that we live with here in the Ottawa Valley and explores the stories they might tell us.
