About the Project

The Art Gallery of the Ottawa Valley (AGOV) will be a system of interconnected galleries and programming spaces embedded into already-existing public infrastructure across the Kitchisippi (Ottawa River) watershed, including rural communities. The AGOV will operate as a social enterprise program of Ottawa Valley Community Arts and will include the following types of art spaces: main exhibition galleries, small art spaces, art programming spaces, art installations, outdoor programming spaces and digital spaces.

To create a robust and sustainable public art gallery it must be a “natural” fit and grow organically within its environment. OVCAOS is inspired by the ways that trees and other more-than-human beings engage with their environments as a model for the Art Gallery of the Ottawa Valley (AGOV). The AGOV will be rooted in land and community; connected across the watersheds of the Ottawa Valley; nurturing for participants, partners, and communities; with time to grow in an organic and meaningful way.
